In 2019, MSF launched several interventions across Chad to help control the measles epidemic that has continued to intensify since it was declared in May 2018.

In Chad, measles outbreaks usually begin in spring and die out when the rainy season starts in June, but the 2018 outbreak continued into 2019 and eventually spread to 75 of the country’s 126 districts. Our teams arrived in Am Timan in January when a new peak was declared...

MSF received more than 70 wounded in response to the conflict in Sudan

On 2 June, a total of 72 wounded people from Sudan have been treated at the hospital in Adré, eastern Chad, by Médecins Sans Frontières in partnership with the local health authorities. This is as a result of violence and fighting that has raged in Darfur and other regions of Sudan for more than six weeks and has led to almost a hundred thousand people fleeing to Chad since April 15.

Tens of thousands of Cameroonian refugees fleeing to Chad

For the past few weeks, but more precisely over the past few days, thousands of Cameroonians have been crossing the Logone and Chari rivers bordering the two countries to find refuge in Chad. There are now around 100,000 people, the vast majority of whom are women and children, living in around 20 informal sites. MSF teams are mobilizing to provide care to the refugees.
