    The Italian government has introduced tougher asylum and migration policies, making access to healthcare even more difficult for people in need.

    MSF continued to address gaps in medical services for the most vulnerable people and challenge these restrictive policies in Italy in 2019…

    A team from Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is offering psychological support to the survivors of a shipwreck that killed at least 62 people, including 12 children, a few hundred meters from Steccato di Cutro, southern Italy, on 26 February. About 180 people, mostly from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, were travelling on a wooden fishing boat that had left Türkiye four to five days earlier.

    “Our priority is to protect hospital staff” where COVID-19 began in Italy

    One week ago, MSF started to support the COVID-19 pandemic response at Codogno hospital, where the first Italian case was detected, in the region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Half of the 100 beds in this hospital are currently dedicated to patients receiving care for COVID-19.

She has conducted qualitative research in medical programs in countries including South Africa, Liberia, Kenya, Mozambique and Senegal. She has worked with MSF as the Mobile Implementation Officer for qualitative research since May 2015.
