Unlawful detention of migrants
Currently, around 50 people are detained in two Latvian Immigration Detention Centers (IDCs), managed by the State Border Guard Service (SBGS). Those detained are vulnerable people, including survivors of torture or sexual violence, children and pregnant women.
The Climate Crisis is a Health and Humanitarian Crisis
MSF is participating as an official observer at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, 6-18 November 2022. The goal for COP27 ranges from a transition toward renewable energy to financial support to vulnerable communities most affected by climate change.

Violence in Mai-Ndombe and Kwilu provinces (DRC)
Following an outbreak of violence in the provinces of Mai-Ndombe and Kwilu in August, MSF head of mission Alessandra Giudiceandrea spent several weeks in the region as part of MSF’s emergency response. She describes her shock at witnessing the aftermath of the violence, her frustration at the difficulties of mobilising other humanitarian organisations, and her unease at the security-based approach to resolving this crisis.
Geo Barents, MSF: at sea for days, a safe port is now needed
Between the 27th and 29th of October, the Doctors Without Borders/MSF team on the Geo Barents performed seven rescue operations in international waters of the Maltese Search and Rescue region. 572 people have been rescued during such operations at sea. Among the survivors, there are three pregnant women, over 60 minors, many of them are unaccompanied and small children, the youngest being only 11-month-old.
Three people found handcuffed, four injured on the Aegean island of Lesvos
On Thursday 20 October 2022, an emergency team from the international medical organisation Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) received an official alert about a group of people, newly arrived on the Greek island of Lesvos, in need of urgent medical care.
Art and humanitarianism meet in the first charity auction for the benefit of MSF
On 24 April, 2022, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Luxembourg organised its first art auction to benefit its emergency medical action. The event took place in the premises of Bank Degroof Petercam Luxembourg with 41 artworks by 19 Luxembourg artists in the presence of MSF's international President, Dr Christos Christou.
